Enjoy an evening of fine dining, excellent wine, and decadent Italian and European cuisine right on Hilton Head. For a special date, romantic evening, or just a slower pace after many island adventures, make reservations at Flora’s Italian Cafe. Hours are 5-9 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday, reservations required. Visit them at 841 William Hilton Parkway, Unit G/H, or call 843-842-8200.
Appetizers
Share authentic Italian flavors to start the meal. Gamberoni al Mostarda gives you a taste of the sea with sauteed shrimp in Dijon mustard and white wine sauce, while Carpaccio Genovese keeps you firmly on the group with thinly sliced tenderloin served over a bed of greens and topped with olive oil and Parmesan cheese. Go simple and traditional with crostino di mozzarella – thick mozzarella, breaded and baked, and served with marinara sauce.
Soup & Salad
Enjoy a variety of soups including tortellini in brodo, featuring meat tortellini with chicken consumme, or pasta fagioli – a Tuscan white bean soup. For something lighter choose the Insalata di Casa salad, full of fresh greens and topped with Balsamic vinaigrette dressing, or Insalata Cesare: fresh Romaine lettuce tossed in Caesar dressing.
Pasta
The ravioli asparagi features traditional cheese ravioli served with asparagus and mushrooms in cream sauce, while capellini pescatore includes shrimp, scallops, and clams with marinara sauce over capellini. If you’re looking for something to fill you up, try fusilli pasticcio, corkscrew paste tossed in hearty meat sauce with chopped sausage and Porcini mushrooms.
Pesce
There are a myriad of fish and seafood dishes at this Hilton head cafe, including Red Snapper, Grouper, “Gamberri Portofino” – tender shrimp sauteed in pink brandy sauce with sun dried tomatoes, and more.
Pollo
Savor the pollo scarpariella – a fresh chicken breast accompanied by homemade sausage and sauteed in white wine and Balsamic vinegar with garlic and rosemary. Delight in pollo zingara: fresh chicken breast topped with grilled eggplant and fresh mozzarella in a dry sherry sauce.
Vitello
There are a number of veal dishes to sample. Vitello Abigail is a delicious veal scaloppine soaked in a brandy cream sauce and served with asparagus. Try the Vitello saltimbocca, veal scaloppine topped with prosciutto and mozzarella cheese and served over spinach in a sherry sauce. There are several other dishes that will satisfy your stomach.
Wine
Reds and white by the glass or by the bottle. Choose from Riesling, chardonnay, pinot grigio, white zinfandel, Merlot, cabernet sauvignon, Chianti, and others. Wrap up the evening with port.
Martinis
There are a variety of specialty drinks at Flora’s Italian Cafe, including the Bond – gin, dry vermouth, shaken – not stirred – with a lemon twist. Their Italian Cosmo features orange vodka, Triple Sec, lime and cranberry juices garnished with an orange slice. Substitute raspberry vodka or citrus vodka and make a raspberry or citrus Cosmo. Try something different with an espresso martini made with vanilla vodka, Kahlua, and Bailey’s with fresh espresso cream.
