Tours & Exhibits
Take your time exploring the park on your own. There are informative signs and placards to guide you around and immerse you in the history. Book a private guided tour and learn tidbits of local knowledge there may not have been room to print on the sign. For a special experience, the “Come Walk With Me in Mitchelville” tour starts at the dock where slave ships arrived, then continues through the development of a post-slavery community in the South. Events
The park holds several events throughout the year, including an annual Juneteenth celebration and “Blues and BBQ” celebration, both with food, fun, art vendors, live bands, and more. See film screenings of historically important films as well as celebrate freedom with a freedom walk in honor of National Freedom Day in February.
