In this guide, we’ll highlight the best activities, dining spots, and places to stay to make your Hilton Head spring break unforgettable.
Outdoor Activities for the Family
Beaches
If you’re looking to get away and enjoy some time on the beach, Hilton Head Island has some of the best beaches in South Carolina for a family vacation. Some of the most family-friendly beaches include Driessen Beach Park and Coligny Beach. Driessen Beach Park is a local gem with a variety of amenities, including a playground and picnic area. Coligny Beach is home to some of the calmest waters of the Island. There are also a number of amenities, including outdoor showers, changing rooms, and restrooms.
Biking
Hilton Head Island has over 60 miles of biking paths for you to get out and explore the island. One of the best scenic trails is the Sea Pines Forest Preserve biking trail, which winds through the 650-acre sanctuary of wildlife and wetlands. You can also find trails around each of the beaches; you can even bike from Driessen Beach Park to Folly Field Beach Park for some stunning coastal views. Biking around Hilton Head Island is a great way to get out and view the natural beauty of our coastal island.
When you book a Coastal Vacation Rental, you’ll receive two complimentary bike rentals each day with your stay with our partnership with Xplorie. Learn what other activities are included in your vacation rental!
Golf Courses
If you or someone in your family is a golfer, you must take advantage of the opportunity to play one of the 23 world-class golf courses on Hilton Head Island. Some of the best courses on the island were designed by legendary architects like Pete Dye, Robert Trent Jones, and George W. Cobb. Many of the courses live in the island’s neighborhoods, including Sea Pines Resort, Palmetto Dunes, and Shipyard. You won’t be disappointed regardless of which course you decide to play.
Local Tip: If your spring break falls on the same week as the RBC Heritage Golf Tournament, we highly recommend getting tickets. It’s a great opportunity to view one of the best PGA Tour events!
Rainy Day Activities
Sometimes, the weather isn’t always cooperative for an outdoor adventure. If you’re stuck with a rainy day on your Hilton Head, South Carolina, spring break, here are some ideas on how to keep busy for that day you’re stuck inside.
The Sandbox Children’s Museum
The Sandbox Children’s Museum is an interactive, hands-on museum designed for children ages 8 and under. It features a variety of engaging exhibits for young visitors. One of the most popular attractions is the giant sandcastle playground. Other highlights include an interactive LEGO wall, a Light Bright, a flight deck, and pretend play areas such as a grocery store, a camping site, and a dress-up corner. In this museum, kids rule! This is the space for your kid’s imagination to run wild with their imagination and interact with other children.
Park Plaza Cinema
Park Plaza Cinema is a staple on Hilton Head Island. This locally owned theater shows the latest blockbuster movies and has some of the best snacks. They have a variety of snack options, including funnel cakes, hot dogs, pizza, flatbread, and, of course, classic popcorn.
You can buy tickets and reserve your reclining seat online so you know you have a seat waiting for you when you arrive. The best part of this theatre is they allow pets to come with you as long as they are under 20 lbs.
Coastal Discovery Museum
While the Coastal Discovery Museum has outdoor exhibits, there are still plenty of exhibits to explore inside. In the heart of the Discover house, there is the kid zone exhibit that showcases a variety of Lowcountry treasures, info, artifacts, and inhabitants. There is also the Discovery Lab, where people of all ages can gather to learn how to care for the natural Lowcountry ecosystem. They hold many family-friendly public programs throughout the week in the Discovery Lab. Regardless of where you go to the museum, you’ll get to immerse yourself in Lowcountry nature.
Family Friendly Restaurants
Hilton Head Island is home to a number of family-friendly restaurants with amazing kid menus to appease every tastebud in your family. One of the most popular is The Salty Dog Café in Sea Pines Resort. Their kid’s menu has all the classic kids’ meals you can think of, like buttered noodles and chicken tenders. Despite its name, Skull Creek Boathouse is a great waterfront restaurant with a kid’s menu featuring classical but also fresh seafood to pick from.

With numerous options for booking vacation rentals, it can be tough to determine the best place to book a rental. While OTAs like Vrbo, HomeAway, and Airbnb are heavily advertised and seem appealing, they may not always be the optimal choice. Discover the benefits when you book direct with a local rental agency is often the superior option compared to using an OTA.
What Does it Mean to Book Direct for Vacation Rentals?
In today’s world, finding vacation rentals is a breeze. A simple Google search brings up hundreds of search results with options, and online travel agencies (OTAs) like Airbnb and Vrbo are often the first ones you see. Most of the time, many of the rentals listed OTAs are also accessible through property management websites, like the one you’re browsing now, and booking directly means reserving your vacation rental directly through the property manager’s website, bypassing the need for an OTA.
Benefits of Direct Booking vs OTA
Fewer Fees
When you book through a third-party website, you’ll often experience extra fees like booking fees and service fees. The extra fees will increase your booking reservation total by up to 15% more than when you make a vacation rental direct booking on our Coastal Vacation Rentals. Put that money towards other things like food or an experience for your vacation.
Special Deals
We offer exclusive deals for our vacation rentals on our website. For the best and most up-to-date specials on our vacation rentals, check out our current specials and discounts.
